camden markets >> camden lock market |
 |
In
the beginning...
This is the market that started it all
in back in 1972 with a bohemian collection of outdoor stalls
selling esoteric bric a brac. Now considerably tidied up, its
indoor and outdoor markets still offer a huge selection of original
arts and crafts, original designer clothes, delicious food stalls
and boat trips along the canal. A great atmosphere - its the
jewel of Camden. |

Open
all week
Many of the
shops and cafes are open throughout the week from about 11am
- 6pm daily.
However the market really comes alive at
the weekends - with four or five times as many stalls and
much more going on.
Take your time to look around - its a sprawling
complex and just when you think you've seen it all, you turn
another corner and there's more.

Dingwalls
and Jongleurs
Camden Lock is also home to the legendary
venue Dingwalls - at the cutting edge of the live music scene
for 30 years. Bands who've played there recently include:
Toploader, Coldplay, Beta Band, White Stripes and Feeder.
Jongleurs is a world famous stand-up comedy
club open on both Friday (one show) and Saturday nights (two
shows). You can book a table for a sit down meal or order
drinks from the bar.

The

The best food stalls in Camden are to be
found in Camden Lock Market at weekends.
A huge selection of exotic fare is cooked
in front of you by experts on stalls in West Yard on Saturday
and Sunday - Helpings are huge and prices are very reasonable.
Tables and chairs are provided or enjoy your meal on a Summer's
day by sitting out by the adjoining canal and watching the
boats go by.
